Plymouth’s Original Bagel House

Our home. Our inspiration.
The Hutong Bagel Co is situated on the Stonehouse Peninsula in Plymouth, UK. This area of outstanding natural beauty is home to Devil’s Point, Firestone Bay and Plymouth Sound where a fantastic community with a deep connection to these surrounding waters live and dwell.
Next door to The Hutong is Royal William Yard, a redeveloped Victorian naval victuals yard, and home to the largest collection of Grade 1 listed buildings in Europe.
This yard was also home to a bagel staple: salt beef. In the victualling days, cattle were herded through the Firestone arch and into the slaughterhouse to be abbatoired and brined for salt beef in preparation for naval ship voyages!

Our Community. Our Soul.
Each day, as our doors open at 7:30am, regulars, commuters, swimmers, dog walkers, residents and more bustle to enter and take that first sip of coffee or bite of still-warm bagel. The Hutong sits proudly at the centre of our community as a place of rest, of reward, of revival.
There is something about the natural energy of this area that lends itself to outdoor pursuits. Wild swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, running, walking, sailing, scuba and our home buzzes with the kinetic energy of this special location.
